Level sensors are primary measuring devices used for continuous measurement, as well as monitoring of limit values of the level of liquid and granular media. The values obtained as a result of measurements are transformed into a pulsed current or digital signal of the HART or RS-485 standard.

Types of sensors

- level meters displaying the current value.
The devices can be designed for installation in a container, pipeline, or above the control object. Location – vertical or horizontal.
Based on their operating principle, level sensors are divided into:
- Continuous measurement membranes. They have a monoblock design and are mounted on the outside of the container.
- Mechanical floats. Used to determine the level of a liquid medium in an open tank.
- Hydrostatic. Their operating principle is based on measuring the pressure of the medium at the bottom of the container, which depends on the height of the column above the meter and the viscosity of the medium.
- Capacitive contact. Design: immersed probe with one electrode, which can be partially or completely insulated. The functions of the second electrode are performed by the tank body.
